BELIEF STATEMENTS

God: One Holy and Loving God- Eternally Existent in Three Persons: God, The Son, and Holy Spirit.

1 John 4:8  Revelation 1:8

Jesus: God’s essence poured into human form -- He became someone we could relate to and love. Jesus is our model for human flourishing and fruitful living, whose example of passion, love, and sacrifice has the ability to save us from a barren existence. Jesus challenged the status quo and intentionally sought after the marginalized and those pushed aside. How we view Jesus shapes how we live out our Christian faith.

John 1:14-15, Phil. 2:6-8

Humanity: We are all created in the image of God. As God’s creations we are given gifts and abilities to demonstrate the fullness of God and to pursue God’s diverse and inclusive Kingdom on earth. Although we fall short of the perfection of God, we are given the choice to live fruitful and purposeful lives, as we strive to emulate Christ.

Micah 6:8, Gen 1:26-27

The Church: As the body of Christ we are called to authentically love God and love others. We individually and collectively strive to be more like Jesus. We encourage growth, connection, and push each other toward wholeness and godliness. We are the fellowship of Christ followers devoted to live, love, and serve beyond our four walls. It is through community that we discover and fulfill our purpose. We’re in this together. Heb.10: 23-25, Acts 2:42-47

The Bible: The enduring narrative of humanity’s journey with God, full of wisdom, prayer, poetry and story. Molded by their cultural contexts, the biblical authors recorded their experiences of God as they understood them. While the Bible is beautifully inspired by God, it also holds the potential for human error. That said, Scripture is powerful and fruitful in the lives of those who use it thoughtfully and humbly. This compelling library of books chronicles the forward progression of the Kingdom of God, which continues to unfold today.

Heb. 4:12, Rom. 15:4

Salvation: The gift of new life offered by grace through Christ’s life, death, and resurrection promise. Because shame separates us from God, Jesus bridged the gap, reuniting us with the Divine. We often try to earn salvation, but Jesus sets us free from this bondage. Through Him, we can be transformed from selfish to selfless, apathetic to engaged, callous to loving. Salvation is not just about life after death, but abundant life now. The evidence of our salvation is faith expressing itself through love.

Eph. 2:8-9, Luke 10:25-37

Afterlife: We are eternal beings living in physical bodies. We acknowledge that the way we live our lives will have eternal effects, while humbly recognizing that no one person
can say with certainty what the afterlife entails. Therefore, we seek to live on purpose, trusting that God’s grace is sufficient.
